A careful restoration has revived the former splendour and character of the property. The 17th century lava stone Palmento (a group of dwellings centered around the cellar where grapes and olives were crushed) is today a suggestive location for wine tasting.
The Agriturismo produces 4 wines, all of them coming from the territory of Mount Etna. The most representative is the Musmeci rosso, obtained with a singular variety, the Nerello Mascalese, from age-old vineyards. The owner, Silvia Maestrelli, whose goal is to ally the culture of wine with good living, has experienced in the last 10 years with her Etna wines a fair success around the world. The entire production is organic.
Above the Palmento are located the dining room, the fully equipped kitchen, the living-room and the beautiful terrace offering endless views over the vineyards. The breakfast and dinners can be organized by a chef with a supplement. Most of the products comes from the organic orchard of the agriturismo or from local small producers. Visits of the wine production and wine tastings need to be booked in advance. A lovely swimming-pool nestled in the vineyards will offer you delectable relaxing moments.
Besides being a perfect place for relaxing, this luxury villa is also the ideal place to discover Mount Etna, beautiful cities like Taormina, Catania, the gorges of Alcantara and taste the regional products of the area.
THE ROOMS:
The 6 rooms, stylish and tastefully decorated with traditional Sicilian craft and antics, design and art collector's pieces, are located in different places of the estate. The split level Junior suite can accommodate up to 3 guests. With thick lava stone walls and a bathroom with a large stone bath tub, the 54mò suite offers an intimate and felted atmosphere. The superior rooms are situated on the first floor of the main building and enjoy a beautiful view over the vineyards. All rooms have modern bathrooms, Maison Margiela bath linen, safe box, Wi-Fi, air conditioning, heating, coffee machine, herbal teas. The villa can be rented with different services. It can accommodate up to 15 persons. The cleaning and change of towels are included.
Curiosity: In former times, a little train connecting Catania to Riposto used to call at all stations around Mount Etna. Nowadays the train line is a myth; only a small rail car stops at some stations 4 or 5 times per day. You will have the feeling to be in a movie scene and jump into the past when the small rail car is passing nearby the property.
